PRE-SEASON SHEDULE
The OKC Thunder's preseason serves to perfect the cohesion of its young roster before the start of the regular season.
It's an opportunity for coach Mark Daigneault to evaluate different rotations and integrate new players or rookies, such as Chet Holmgren, who is returning from injury.
Friendly games allow the team to implement its playing systems and give playing time to young talents such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams.
SGA, the confirmation season
After winning MVP last year, SGA is eagerly awaited and must prove himself this season to confirm his title.
Can OCK achieve the double?
Last year's NBA champions, OKC, are they capable of winning back-to-back titles this year and establishing a dynasty?
A pre-season in the spotlight
These first friendly matches will be decisive, as we will be able to see straight away whether the team is performing as well as it did last year.
MID SEASON TOURNAMENT
The Emirates NBA Cup (formerly known as the In-Season Tournament) is the NBA's midseason tournament, and it is hugely important for up-and-coming teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC).
For the Thunder, the stakes go beyond the trophy and substantial financial rewards (the runner-up, OKC in 2024, received a nice bonus per player). Above all, it is a crucial opportunity to test its young team in a high-intensity environment, with knockout games that simulate the atmosphere of the playoffs.
Reaching the final, as was the case in 2024, allows Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and the rest of the team's young core to gain valuable clutch experience and prove their ability to win under pressure. The tournament thus serves as a catalyst to consolidate a winning mentality and assert OKC's legitimacy among the elite of the Western Conference.
- Gaining experience in clutch situations
- Affirmation of elite status
- Financial and team motivation
